Definition

  • A non-profit self-regulatory organization (SRO) overseen by the Canadian Securities Administrators that regulates securities dealers operating in Canadian debit and equity markets. The Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada sets standards and has quasi-judicial powers through compliance hearings. The IIROC has powers to fine, suspend or even expel members and representatives. Referred to as the "Organisme canadien de réglementation du commerce des valeurs mobilières (OCRCVM)" in French.
