The Learning Management System (LMS) is the Canadian Association of Accredited Mortgage Professionals (CAAMP)’s latest initiative in helping to keep busy mortgage professionals up to date and educated on the latest advancements, guidelines, products and regulations in the Canadian mortgage industry.

Logging in will allow Canadian mortgage professionals access to engaging, comprehensive courses from anywhere they wish to access the website from. The LMS is available around the clock. Options from which mortgage professionals, or prospective mortgage professionals, can choose include:

  • Close to 20 free continuing education courses
  • Specialized mortgage training courses
  • Pre-accreditation courses, including seminars such as Ethics and Responsibilities for Mortgage Professionals, needed to become an Accredited Mortgage Professional (AMP)
  • Licensing courses (provincial selection)

The LMS website will be continually updated and expanded upon with current, useful content and course activities. Course work includes interactive modules with quizzes and videos to keep users interested and motivated throughout their course’s duration.

In order for a Canadian mortgage broker to receive an AMP designation and maintain good standing, they must attain 12 continuing education credits per year. The new LMS makes this process simple, interesting and convenient. Canadian mortgage brokers can meet these requirements online, at their own pace and in their own time, using the LMS.

The LMS also aims to, at some point, offer licensing courses meeting the educational requirements for every province in Canada.

“The goal is to have a harmonized proficiency course on this platform than spans different provinces, subject to regulator guidance and approval,” said Mark Webb, Vice President Education and Professional Affairs for CAAMP.

This would enable Canadian mortgage brokers to operate countrywide with much more efficiency and consistency in practice. Provincial regulators are slated to discuss this standardized provincial licensing agenda sometime in the near future.
